WHY WOULD THEY END IT LIKE THAT? I STILL DON'T EVEN KNOW.
But I adore FH. It's one of my go-to happy episodes. They basically spend the whole time being cute and fluffy; and Rose gets to take a pick axe to both a road and a door. I ♥ her.
(I think it Rose's actions in this one in particular, as well as TIP/TSP kind of give us a nice bit of foreshadowing for what really happened in the parallel world. They didn't show anything of her life there, but I think it's pretty safe to say that she figured stuff out on her own, saved the world and, in the end, got back to the Doctor.
It's probably a good indication of both how capable she was as well as how determined and focussed she was.)
I agree, it was such a good episode, it was light and bright (the colours! The light!) and warm and really funny. Some fans seem to dislike it and I have no idea why. It's nice to read somebody's enthusiastic comments about it. The Doctor and the olympic torch! :)

I love all the joy that is in this episode too, the chemistry is sooooo readable between the Doctor and Rose (they were so shagging by now ;) )
