[It was a simple request but he wasn't looking forward to it. Yet missing the chance to hear a potentially wonderful story was hard to pass up. Alois mulled it over though he did not seem happy about it.]

You drive a hard bargain. [He smiled, finally.] ...I suppose I could see that daft nurse, so long as you tell me about your story.

[He'd ask if Ven was in Violet City, but he did not want to be disappointed in case he was elsewhere. He stood up and nearly fell forward. Alois straighted himself and sat back down.]

[He'd reply that he was being careful, adding that it really was no concern of Ven's -- but having nearly fallen over, Alois was beginning to realize that perhaps he was more ill than he had thought. It scared him. he wasn't so confident that he was "okay" anymore.]

...Tell me. [He put on a brave face, though it wouldn't last for very long.] ...Are you in Violet City by any chance?

You're not? You ought to hurry then! [JOY -- despite being initially spooked, he's not anymore. Having someone nearby helps. It doesn't help the pain though.]

[He watches the scenery shift with barely contained excitement. Alois sits as still as he can as he waits. He shifts his weight from side to the other, undoing and redoing his bow.

He can feel the bile rising in his throat but he keeps it down as well as he can.]

[He doesn't know what a 'sec' is, but it must be very fast. Alois half expects Ven to appear out of midair, though he knows that's ... well, it wasn't unlikely. Perhaps improbable.]

[Alois' breathing has gotten worse. He leans against a wall to steady his balance, but he tried to push himself off and away from it. It was too familiar, almost an exact replica of that night sans blood.]
