Made it through the book and it does get better, but I don't see what the fuss was all about. Fell asleep twice during the movie and never finished watching it (and have no desire to).
I started it but couldn't get past all the complicated, long-winded prose and plotting. We should see the Fincher flick together! I'm a huge fan of his and I'm willing to give it a shot if the story is under his baton.
I liked the book OK. The first quarter of it is the worst, so I can readily understand why you couldn't get into it. The sequels get steadily worse. The Swedish film, aside from Noomi Rapace as Salander, is a snooze that only underscores how formulaic Larsson's plotting is. Fincher's movie can only be an improvement. Love the cast and the "bootlegged" red band trailer. That it's apparently a studio plant only makes me more interested.
I haven't read the books but I really enjoyed the films. I am not thrilled with what I've seen of the American remake but to be fair I almost always hate remakes. Often they are pointless and dumbed down. I will be really curious to see if they keep Lisbeth bisexual.
