That was heartbreaking. Oh, the poor Grangers-turned-Wilkins-- suffering for a year, missing a person they don't even remember. I am saddened.

I really like the line you used as your summary, "Monica had hoped that the move would help cure the dull ache in her chest that nagged her that something was missing." There's something poetic and sad about wanting something you don't even remember was there. They're unhappy, but they don't know why; there's a part of them missing, but they don't know what it is.

I *really* hope Hermione went back to them at the end of the year. I really want that happy ending.
