it sounded like the recording, what the hell -- did someone mess with the video. true footage, fake sound.

Apparently you have not listened to the song enough.
I mean, you can even hear him slip on his piano solo!
And the rhythm at the choruses are different.

I clicked on it on the off-chance that it might be a song I know, and yay, it was Remember When it Rained! Props to Groban for actually being able to sing on-key. The Killers are still the most awesomest band ever, but they always sound, I dunno, flat when they're live. D:
