Has anyone flown on US Airways, American and Frontier recently?

So I know I asked about Southwest before and the early bird check-in was super helpful since I was able pick a row and my friends were able to sit next to me. The seatbelt ended up not fitting (by 2-3 inches!) and I had asked for a extender but both times the attendents forgot I asked so I went seatbelt-less to and from. Which I don't mind but I ( Read more... )

I've flown US Airways at a size 28 and was fine. I used a belt extender every time and the flight attendants were always really nice about giving me one. No trouble at the gate or with seats otherwise. No recent experience on American and I've never flown Frontier. Good luck!! I'm sure you'll be fine. :)

I ask for a belt extender the moment I step onto the plane. No one has ever given me grief.

Im 24/26 on the bottom. Flew frontier last year.

I just flew Frontier from Austin to Chicago this past weekend and I had to ask for a seatbelt extender, but the seats themselves were much more comfortable than the last Southwest flight I took. The staff were very polite and accommodating when I asked for the extender.

It'll really depend on the plane you're on.
But just go ahead and ask for an extender right away - if you don't need it, no harm.

I flew Delta recently and the flight there I was fine, but the flight home I needed an extender. I'm usually more concerned with my hips fitting between the arms - if I sit a certain way it pushes the arm rest up.

I wear a 24/26 and I've flown all of those airlines in the past year with no problem. On my most recent flight, I brought along my own seatbelt extender for the inch that I need. TSA didn't care about it in my purse, and I quick got it out and buckled into the regular belt before any other passengers could see. (Not that I really care..) I have had zero problems flying while fat, and I hope you have the same experience. :)

Just commenting to tell the OP that I bring my own extender as well. Southwest use a different type than most other airlines. I bought both types (it was about a $70 investment) and bring both of them with me when I travel. I have more peace of mind knowing that I don't have to bug the attendants. Travel is already kind of fraught for me due to these issues and experiences I've had before, even though I try to be pretty confident, so it's just easier and more within my own control this way.

Anyway, Southwest Airlines extenders are usually sold as "Type B" if you decide to purchase one.

Thanks for your input!!! I bought an extender but I'm worried about the flight attendants looking at me and thinking, "wait how did she get that to buckle?" And then a whole other situation could happen in front of more people. But I plan to bring it just incase

I've never had any of them question it. I adjust the extender so that only the regular buckle is visible, but you could probably arrange it so both the buckles are visible while they are checking, and they could probably figure it out from there. I think they have enough other stuff to take care of and check of their lists that they're just glad you're strapped in and they'll leave it at that.
