I flew Southwest a few years back, and I bought extenders specifically made for southwest flights on ebay. They worked perfectly, and were the same color as the seatbelts, so it wasn't at all noticeable once Bunny and I were buckled in. One of the flight attendants did sorta eyeball me a bit when I was buckling in, but otherwise I was basically left alone in that way.

The only thing I got bothered for was having my phone out. (Apparently having it on airplane mode is not good enough, heh.)

This is good to hear. I have family I would like to visit. My sis who is not nearly as large as me (size 14/16) said she would even be willing to split buying the 3rd seat with me . I have my own extender, but if it may not fit, it's good to know they are discreet.

I also flew Southwest twice this past week with no incident (size 20 / 220 lbs with most of my weight in my belly and upper body). I had room to spare in my belt, but when I was about 90 lbs heavier I could still wear the regular belt, just on the very end of the buckle.

Important advice if you choose early boarding: Keep in mind that even within the "early bird" group, check-in time determines the order in which you board. The early bird boarding is so cheap, lots of people sign up for it, and since I checked in only two hours before my flight, I was still #50 on the plane because I was the last of the early bird group. If you really want to guarantee your choice of seats, check in online exactly 24 hours before your flight, as early as you possibly can.
