Frye boots

Apr 20, 2013 15:44

Lately I've been examining my shoe collection and realizing it's time I spent some money on a pair of shoes that will last. I've been looking at ankle boots, something that look nice with slacks. I have heard good things about Frye but never owned a pair. Anyone have any recommendations? Even for other brands, the ones that you save up for.

Frye didn't work for me. My feet are only borderline wide but I found them too tight across the foot. I also found them really heavy. So, I bought a pair of Hudson boots (the style is called Encke) and they are lovely :) Comfortable and lightweight!

Do frye's have any arch support whatsoever?

Also, has everyone ordered theirs online? After looking at the website, it looks like the only options are online or from a flagship store.

I have the Frye 8R harness in black, which I bought at a local discount shoe store (similar to DSW). They're OK. Not comfortable but not uncomfortable, if that makes any sense. I think I'm just upset that I didn't go for a taller boot or a different style altogether, though. They aren't something that I can wear to work or want to wear while running errands, for example. They are nicely made (IMO, anyway) and since I hardly use them, they'll last me forever (if I keep them).

If you can't find a seller locally, try Zappos. I ended up trying on 8.5, 9 & 9.5 in the 8Rs before settling on 8.5.

yeah, see that's the key. i want a sturdy boot that i can also wear to work with dress pants. i've found a few frye ankle boots that fit this description. i have tall boots from LB that i love but i know they won't last long.

I have the Frye Philip Harness Boot (zipper up the back), which I got for a steal at a consignment store. The only thing I will say is I think they run small since I have a 10 and I normally can wear a 9, 9 1/2. But I have treated them rather poorly this winter (and yes, it's still pretty much winter here in MN), and they are doing GREAT. They are my most comfortable, versatile footwear. I love the hell out of them.
