Not an online source, unfortunately, but I've been all over the spectrum between a 38B and a 44C and I've always had good luck at Ross, if there's one in your area. They stock a lot of the same brands that you see at Macy's and other department stores for a fraction of a price, and I'm talking a very small fraction. Can't beat $7 for a bra! :)

Seconding Ross! I was in the states last month, & forgot to take bras with me. Walked in off the street and found 4 which fit right away. :)

I actually love Ross but unfortunately, they only have maybe 4 or 5 bras in my size most of the time (and usually they're not what I like). I'll definitely try looking again next time I go though. Thank you! :)

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. My local Ross carries amazing dresses and shirts but the bra sizes are sketchy. And I'm a 42 B which is nearly impossible for me to find. Right now, I'm stuck with crappy bras from Walmart that come out of the box and have no real shape. Torrid and Cato Plus don't even carry my size.

I loath online shopping, to my hinderence. :(

I really recommend HerRoom. Pretty bras in a wide variety of styles for big women. And they'll give you a standardized size and tell you what to order to get that size for any bra they carry, since bras aren't consistent.

In a slightly unrelated matter from the OPs, thank you for linking this!

I stopped by and read the bit about straps. My straps always...ALWAYS slip off my shoulders--bras, spaghetti straps, and even some thicker straps. I can't believe I never thought about it this way, but I guess my shoulders are really sloped. Looks like I'll be buying bras/tank tops with the straps sewn closer in and directly to the shirt.

*gasp* Are you me? Same size, same shape, same fit issues! I wish I had an awesome bra source for you, because then I'd have one too. Sadly, I only have a couple really crappy ill-fitting bras at the moment so I'll be watching the comments with interest. The only good bra I've gotten in years came from a local lingerie shop- the saleslady did an amazing job fitting me but I never wear the bra anymore because I gained an inch and can't find my extender thingie (note to self: buy new one).

If it helps, I think the name of the style you're looking for is probably a "demi" bra. That's what always works for me, they're quite small cups and are often sexier because...I have no idea why, I guess because on bigger boobs they look more daring- on mine they just look like an average bra. Usually a really cute average bra, but average in boob-coverage. You might also like a "balconette" style. They're not so great on me but that has a lot to do with the spacing of my breasts and where most of my breast tissue likes to live. If I was ( ... )

Thank you! Now I know what words to use when explaining my bra preference to people :) And ugh... extenders... I use them for a couple Victoria's Secret bras I have but it's just not the same as a good fitting bra. I will definitely fill you in if I find a magic bra for us both! haha

These both seem like they could be what I'm looking for. Thanks so much for the recommendation. :)

Thank you so much for these links! I'm a student still clinging to the last of my Lane Bryant bras that need replacing. I'll totally be checking out the JC Penny Bras. $9 is SO much better than $40 per bra!

I agree with checking out Ross, their prices are great and they carry lots of well-known brands, but do try on before purchase. They carry a lot of items that buyers reject due to sizing inconsistencies, and so a bra tagged a 40C there might not actually be a 40C. The Delta Burke line has lots of cute, sexy styles (with padding and push up!) in your size and usually around $12 or less. (Do not EVER pay full price for Delta Burke products as they can almost always be found at Ross, Burlington Coat Factory and similar discount department stores ( ... )

I'm going to check all your links out, thanks! And I actually do have a VF outlet nearby so I might go look there tomorrow. :)
