Bras/patterns for plus size asymmetrical breasts?

I've got a rather unique problem. Well, actually.. I don't think its really that unique, but judging from the selection of bras i've found.. oh.. ANYWHERE, you would think it was.  My breasts are rather asymmetrical. I'm a 38 band (depending on the brand) - my left breast is a full DD, my right breast is just barely a D. I'm not sure if LB still does the removable air pads thing, but if so (or if you can get your hands on that style via ebay or something), it seems like you could get a bra that fits your larger breast and put both air pads in the cup of the smaller breast. My breasts are maybe a half size different, no big deal, but sometimes (aka when I feel like giving a shit) I'll put the air pad in the cup of the smaller breast but not the larger one. Sorry I don't have any better suggestions, but I do hope you get some good answers. I know this is a more common problem than it seems.

i actually do have a few of those style bras from lb - it does work well - my only gripe is that they tend to deflate over time for whatever reason.

I'm not sure about your local LB, but mine will replace the air pads for free if I come in and ask! :) Might be worth a shot.

That is precisely what I do.

And yeah, the pads sometimes deflate, but I always have extras around from bras that I no longer wear. Also, you can make your own pads out of padding rather than air.

oh, that is a great idea! i will definitely look into this - i wonder if somewhere like nordstrom might offer it? they generally have really great bra fitters and an on-site tailor. thanks so much for the suggestion!

You might want to try mastectomy inserts. I've known women who after a lumpectomy ended up with asymetrical breasts and they use the inserts in "normal" bras.

If the commercial inserts don't work, you may be able to get your hands on a Knitty Titty or make your own. There are patterns for knitters and crocheters here: http://www.knittytittycommittee.com/
