Evans Experience

Has anyone else ordered from the new Evans USA website? Was anyone else severely disappointed? They offered free standard shipping on ALL orders, yet charged me $10 shipping, first off. THEN, when I went to ocntact customer service about the shipping charge, there was NO phone number for me to call...unless I was in England. I had to send an email ( Read more... )

what the hell?, evans, rants

I bought this jade tankini top from Evans over the summer, before they started the US website, and though I'm really pleased with it, I decided to not shop with them again unless they revised the international shipping policy.

I wrote a review on it here. I ordered according to the size chart and the top was SMALL. I had paid $12 in shipping and also had to pay return shipping. I didn't want to reorder because of the hassle and costs, but decided to because I had a vacation planned and couldn't find another top suitable for my chest (the cup size went up to size F/G and I'm a size H). SIGH. I ordered 2 sizes up, and am happy with the top now, but I ended up paying $24 in shipping ($12 x 2) as well as return shipping (I think it was ~$6), and the returns process is a hassle compared to ASOS's, for example ( ... )

Yeah, I emailed them at least 2 weeks ago, closer to 3, with no response. I'm going to send another one about getting the wrong sizes and being disappointed, but I doubt I'll get a response. I'm trying to sell the bras in the fatshionxchange community and someone asked for one of them, so I might just return the one...but if its that much of a hassle, I'm not interested in trying.

Luckily, they sent a return label with the bras, so I won't have to pay more postage, but still...it'll probably take a month to get my money back.

Oh, nice that they have an easy return label! The return wasn't a huge hassle, I just remember having to fill out a form online saying I was sending in a return and I had to get some sort of stamp on a sheet when at the post office... the post office worker was kind of confused.
I do remember it taking a while for them to receive the return and refund. :\ Maybe they've sped up the process a little bit.

I wish I was in the UK and could actually CALL the customer service line! The lack of communication is what bothers me...it's not that hard to set up at least ONE phone line in the US to go with your US site.

Completely off-topic, but I thought you should know that I'm stealing "just short of ringing a plague bell" from you :)

when I lived in the US and found evan's before moving to Canada, I ordered two jackets that never came.
at the time shipping was expected around 2-4 weeks, by the 6 week mark I was able to get my money back (I ended up calling England)
they did not return emails then either.

I had such a wretched time when I ordered from their UK site that I would never order from them again anyways. I had to call internationally to get ahold of them in the end too so you may have to as well. They never responded to my emails either. I did find a US number somewhere but it didn't work anyways. My order took like 3 months to get here, didn't fit, and when I did get permission to return it, the guy was rude.

I hate ever having to deal with Evans customer service.... Because they've NEVER responded to my emails. NEVER.

Also, has anyone else noticed that Evans has upped their prices for Evans USA by about ten percent (after the pounds to dollars conversion)?

Re: the prices being higher: I don't know why no one has mentioned the price difference on their FB page (since people are not hesitant to complain there).

I know they are trying to make up the difference for shipping, but if you buy more than one or two things they're making more than their normal overseas shipping charges, so they're just gouging at that point.

SimplyBe, Yoursclothing, and ASOS don't gouge their overseas customers like that so it just makes me think Evans has dirty business practices.

I honestly wouldn't have ordered if I knew the shipping was going to be $10. They advertise FREE SHIPPING all over the site and then charge you anyway? Wtf? I'm going to go complain on fb, email them, and probably call england tomorrow. This is ridiculous. 't have a mlbusiness if you can't offer decent customer service.

I hope you were able to get somewhere with their customer service. Their FB page is filled with complaints, so apparently they do have a problem with their customer service department.

I've placed several orders with them over the past couple of years and have never had a problem with delivery (though it does take a while - between two and three weeks). One time I did have a problem with a return being credited, but I called them and it was resolved quickly.
