Old Navy (again)

Did anyone else receive a "discount" card from Old Navy that can be used only in store? It's good for the whole month and for a bunch of stuff, but with plus-size stuff only sold online, it's not useful for the most important things, clothing that I can wear. So, what do we do? Order stuff online, pay full price, return them to the store, then buy ( Read more... )

I get your gripe for sure, but I get so many discount codes in my email that I don't think I've ever paid full price for an item at Old Navy in a long while. If you're talking about the gobblepalooza thing, they're offering discount codes online every day.

It sucks, but with ON the past evidence has shown they won't really do anything about complaints.

Also you can't return plus size merchandise to the stores. At least they offer free shipping both ways (returns are free, shipping is free with $50 purchase).

This exactly. My inbox has been bombarded with emails from Old Navy the past couple of days. I would put money on there being a code for Cyber Monday.

I didn't know you couldn't return plus size stuff to the store, though. That does suck.

I think it actually depends on the store. Their overall policy is no store returns (which to me, is less than a big deal because I live right next to a UPS store and way across town from ON, and their return shipping is free). But sometimes people will take things back at the store, it's super hit or miss.

I was talking to a customer service person about an unrelated matter a while back, and I mentioned to her that I received a coupon that was only good in store yet I couldn't shop in store, and she said "Oh I can email you the same thing." So if you call up maybe they would just email you the same coupon to use online? But like the person above said, they have discount codes regularly. They had one a couple days ago for 35% off. I'm thinking they'll have something similar on Friday or Monday.

Thirding the comment here, I think online coming up in the next few days there will be a big sale. Also if you call, they may be able to provide you the same thing. I was going to wait them out until cyber Monday but on Monday they had 35% off everything so I just took the bait.

Depending on where you are sizing wise, I wouldn't rule out shopping in the store. Sure you won't have access to everything, but it doesn't mean that there aren't things there that will fit. ON's sizing is all over the place in ALL of their departments. So it doesn't hurt to try.

Second this. I'm a size 28 and buy 2/3/4x online but I can still wear tops, skirts, dresses and (most importantly) - cardigans in XXL. I really recommend calling their phone support - I did some exchanges/returns and had an amazing experience. Definitely one of the best I've had regarding a return... ever!

Ugh. I tried to post this once, but my stupid keyboard has forward/back buttons below the spacebar, and I accidentally hit one. Grr.

Anyway. I've emailed and/or called them about the "in store only" issue, and they emailed me an online code. Actually, I think what they emailed me was better than the in-store one. But I'd agree with the above commenter who said that there is almost ALWAYS a code...if there's not, and your need for whatever is not urgent (i.e., you don't need a specific item for a trip or event), wait a week, and there will be a code. I never buy anything from them without a coupon code and/or clearance markdown.
