Have you tried meetup.com? If you haven't used it before, it's a "social networking" site, of sorts, where you actually meet people in real time. The meetup group organizer (that would be you) creates a meetup group and writes a few things about the purpose of the group on the site. Then you just wait for people in your area to join, schedule a meetup and go from there. I'm part of a couple of women's meetup groups who just like to meet for coffee and conversation, or dinner and a movie in my area. I'm also part of a couple of atheist and politically liberal groups in my area. We mostly meetup for drinks, food or coffee about once a month, but sometimes we gather for political rallies, atheist informational meetings, etc. I'm also part of a "geeks & nerds" meetup group that just started about a month ago. We had our first meetup at a local pizza joint, just to meet everyone for the first time and kind of get to know people. We have meetups scheduled to see some upcoming sci-fi movies, and other "geeky" pursuits like seeing ( ... )
