you sure its delta? sometimes they use an affiliated carrier for transatlantic flights. (happened when i traveled to asia)
i fly delta quite frequently... and it depends on the plane model tbh. some seats are smaller than others but as someone said, you could get a belt extender, or if you're sitting next to someone you know, don't put the armrest down...it will give you a bit of extra space.
This. I would see if you can find out who your actual carrier is and the type of aircraft you'll be on. Then use seatguru to get more specific details on the seat and go from there.
I fly transatlantic a lot for work and I've never had any issues with the size of seats.
The front seats fill up both because they're less nauseating with take-off, turbulence, and landing, And because if you crash (god forbid) experts say that the front is a safer bet for surviving. (I read Stiff by Mary Roach. she interviewed an expert, who when talking about actual data and stats was really vague, but when pressed said he Always flies first class, because it is safer. Take this all with a grain of salt.)
So...I wonder why nerglish says sit in the back. Is it only because you're more likely not to have someone right next to you? Is there another reason?
I just want to say that I'm sorry you're feeling so crazed...travel shouldn't be this way. That it is...that is a travesty. One should be able to live her life, for god's sake! eHugs to you.
I read this as "travelsty" and thought to myself "i like this word, it explains vacations with my family" Ten points to you for making my mind invent a new word!
I flew Delta on my honeymoon (nearly 7 years ago, but I doubt their planes have changed much, if at all) and I was about your size then. No problems at all, I just asked for a seatbelt extender and they were very very nice and discreet about giving me one. You'll be fine...enjoy your trip!! :-)
I am a 28/30 on the bottom and have flown sevral different carriers and never had a problem except the one time I was in the bulkhead seats because they don't have space under the armrests. And I always ask the attendant as I am geting on for the extender - they are always very nice about it and i never have any problems. Southwest is "teh evil" - I've never heard of any other plane pulling anyone out.
The only time I have had trouble on an international flight was in a bulkhead seat - very uncomfortable - the armrests are thicker to accommodate the tray and it reduces the seat size.
Also, the only time staff has ever given me trouble was when I tried to sit in the exit row - I was told that if you use a seat belt extender you do not qualify to sit in the exit row.
