Note to the Mods: I've had this story open on my computer all day, and couldn't decide whether to post or not. In the end, I decided to post because I love the story, and all the comments are so supportive.

Wow, this is making me cry out loud. Like, actual tears running down my cheeks right now. (But then I'm a crier, so that's not actually all that impressive...)

As some of you might remember, I took up running a couple of years ago and completed a half marathon (in almost exactly the same time that the writer did in her first!) this spring. And then I totally stopped running. I gave myself a month off after the half, then it was July and hot as hell, then I got a new job, then I kept making excuses.

So anyway, now my dad (my running partner, who is 66 years old, ~300 pounds and totally kicks my butt!) wants to do a full marathon and I've been hemming and hawing. I think this article might have just convinced me!

She's so honest. I love that. I love that, like me, she is actually the slowest person out there. I love that she took almost 8 hours to finish (I'm guessing my time will be around 7:30, if I do it). I love all of it. Thank you so much for sharing!
