WTF Old Navy????

Jul 23, 2010 15:25

For some "strange" reason, Old Navy is not advertising on any of the Women's Plus pages that they are giving 30% off all orders over $100 for ALL adult clothes.

They have the 30% coupon code advertised on the WOMEN, MATERNITY, and MEN pages of their site - but not Women's Plus, even though the coupon details say that the sale applies to "Old ( Read more... )

Frankly, I'd rather have the FREE RETURNS ads given Old Navy's horrifically across the board sizing. Am I a 2X, 3X or WAIT THE SMALLEST SIZE IS STILL TOO BIG?

You'll probably save 50% on your order once you send back half of the clothes for not fitting anywhere near proper.

Oh, yeah. We're all catching on to that with Old Navy. It's to the point where the 2X fits NO ONE properly because it covers so many sizes. Maybe a 16 and a 26 shouldn't be in the same shirt??? lol. *sigh*
Oh, Old Navy. So much potential.

If you're a 16 - or even an 18 or 20, get the ON straight sizes, they're plenty big enough.
ON has its problems, but it's a good resource for inbetweenies.

Yeah, that's totally why I'm so frustrated - it IS a great resource. I'm actually a 24/26 and can fit a lot of their straight sizes in the store.

It seems like their website layout is made for 1 ad in that one space. So, it looks like they had to choose. They just can't win I guess.

Exactly.

The OP is reading *way* too much into this.

I know you probably don't want to hear this and by all means don't let it stop you but they won't do shit with your complaint. They will send you back the same mindless apologetic but not-gonna-change-it form letter they have sent all the rest of us who have asked to have plus back in stores.

Yep, that's exactly what I got! My letter to them specifically referenced their lack of advertising the sale to Women's Plus customers in the same way the advertised it to straight sizes, and they sent me a response about being sorry for taking the fat clothes out of the store. It was ridiculous.

I honestly don't give a fuck if they put the clothes back in the store. A lot of stores make certain sizes and styles only available online - like Lane Bryant and Target. My problem is that sales are not being marketed to me in the same way, and I am being discriminated against in terms of return policies.

It's good to know that other people have written to them. It feels empowering to me that I can purposefully make a decision to take my money elsewhere.

IDK, if they have space for one ad, it makes sense to advertise the department-exclusive "deal" in that department, especially since the 30% off sale is advertised so many other places on the site (as well as to their e-mail subscribers).

I'm guessing it's more an assumption (if not direct knowledge, since companies frequently have ways of tracking where visitors are coming from and which pages they're seeing first) that women's plus shoppers have come through the front page, and will thus see the 30% off sale, freeing up the ad space for the other offer.

Whether or not free shipping on products they refuse to sell in stores should be a "deal" is definitely arguable, but I definitely see the logic in "we have two deals and one space, but customers are likely to see Deal A on the home page, so Deal B should go here".

I agree with you. As I replied above, while shopping online is inconvenient, I don't really give a shit if the clothes are in the store, because I can actually fit some of their straight sizes.

If I could NOT fit any of their straight sizes, however, I would immediately go to the Women's Plus page of the site. And at no point would the sale be advertised to me at all, unless I went to the home page.

And I have never seen Old Navy only advertise one deal on a page. If they have more than one, they market the shit out of it to get more people buying shit.

My problem comes from Old Navy's ongoing efforts to make fatties pay more. And this just sealed the deal for me.

I actually don't think you do agree with me. I'm saying if their data reflects that the majority of people go through the front page, then it's a reasonable assumption that anyone going to the women's plus page will have already seen the 30% off deal advertised, and so it makes sense to advertise just the department-exclusive deal.

What I am agreeing with if your statement that "Whether or not free shipping on products they refuse to sell in stores should be a 'deal' is definitely arguable". I should have made that clear.
