I'm just a teeny bit smaller than you--my thighs are 32"--and I found with stripey tights that were too small for me, but still plus size (3/4X), I could cut the crotch out to make stockings that fit nicely.

I got the tights on eBay and I believe they were Leg Avenue brand.

I recently got striped tights at welovecolors.com. They were too small :( I'm a size 24 and I have no idea what my thigh size is. But I cut out the crotch and made thigh highs.
