Thanks for posting this. I have a lot of miles on American, but I've been thinking of avoiding them recently. Last year I had one of their flight attendants refuse to give me seat belt extender until another attendant made her. And I just flew American two weeks ago and witnessed some pretty awful racial profiling from the staff on both trips. They were targeting people to check carryons based only on what color they were, from what I could see. Ick.

Smaller seats is not really helping their cause.

The flight attendants were checking carry ons? Isn't that what all the pre-boarding security screening and whatnot are for? Not cool.

Sometimes superduper small planes are not big enough to even have enough space for carry-on compartments, let alone for a full-sized carry-on-sized suitcase for each passenger.

i will pipe up and say i flew american for my recent vacation and was really scared i would have issues. i was fine in an aisle seat and did not even need a seatbelt extender. i am around a size 20/22 and have needed one in the past. hopefully this new era of everything coming up ok for me (as american oft times has the cheapest flights) will not change as a result. :/

Just another reason not to fly them.
I've had HORRID customer service experiences with them, non-fat related, and based on that alone I will never ever fly American.

My friend's family's checked baggage was lost by AA two days ago when they were going to New York. Their flight also got cancelled. Their luggage wasn't on the plane they were supposed to take nor was it seemingly in the airport.

My only "problem" with them, was a day they stopped me and questioned me based on the book I was reading...

"If chins could kill" by Bruce Campbell

seriously!

I just flew AA and the flight out seemed much smaller than the one back. I also needed a seat belt extender in that direction and not on the return. A pretty miserable way to travel these days!
