Thank you! I hope it all works out. Let's hope she cooperates for a fitting--she will be so much more confident if she finds a bra that supports her!

I like the dress though my personal favorite is this one. I'm a sucker for the sweetheart neckline though!

in my experience, if you have to go strapless, I'd opt for a long line bra, a bustier, or a merry widow. Basic strapless bras don't have the support needed for someone with larger boobs (says I of the F cup boobs). David's Bridal should have some selection, also try Dillards, since I've had pretty good luck there with stuff for larger boobs (and they do free bra fittings, so, she can always do that then shop online for something she likes).

Thanks! Is there a particular distinction between a merry widow, a bustier, and a long line bra? Are longline bras what you would usually find in a department store like Dillard's?

I haven;t been able to figure out the difference between a merry widow and a bustier yet, especially as I've seen the exact same item advertised on different sites as both. Confusing, I know.

Just did a quick peek at dillards online selection and they feature a couple strapless shapewear options, and sometimes their store selection can differ from the online stuff.

I bought the kind that David's has in-store and had me use for my wedding dress fitting. I've used it for many occasions since and really it is my favorite strapless bra ever, but it's also my first longline. The brand I bought was Felina and technically a 42 though I'm a 44 strap size and it works fine. I was a bargain shopper and remembered the model name and such and bought on E-Bay for $20 less than in-store at David's (NWT). Best of luck!

Good to know! Maybe my sister can start at David's Bridal for a bra fitting since she needs to try on the dress anyway.

Just some advice from an ex-DB seamstress. Unless it's brand new, have the gown cleaned and pressed outside DB. DB does sell special bras and double stick body tape and are pretty good about getting your girls situated. Fredrick's has some bras in bigger sizes and will work to fit you...at least get you (collective you) sized.

Thanks for the advice. I'm sure double stick body tape will come in handy as well!

I cannot say any nice things about David's Bridal. Do not buy your long-line bra there if you can help it - mine was damaged and missing several hooks, but I was not allowed to exchange it. It also didn't fit - I was not allowed to try on the one I had to purchase, and apparently the size that fit in the store only fit because it had been stretched to death.
