evans to the usa?

I live in the US and am thinking about ordering from evans, specifically bras and possibly leggings. Since shipping costs might be astronomical I'm thinking I should probably know what i'm getting into since I don't want to deal with trying to return things. Since I generally buy a 46B and a size 28, i believe i need UK size 46C and size 32. Does ( Read more... )

i'm in the uk, a size 26, and i wear a US 24. most people here find evans are a slightly bigger fit, so you might be best getting a 30 rather than a 32

i can't help with bras i'm afraid!

the quality of their clothing is good though!

I don't know about shipping to the US, but they used to send things to France - they'd arrive really nicely packed, in flat boxes, but then this was a few years ago, and I don't know if they've changed since then.

Clothes wise, they tend to be nice quality - you get what you pay for. I've not had issues with anything I've bought from there, and my mother has had some of their clothes for over ten years and they still are pretty decent (and she's quite hard on clothes). I've noticed the fit, at least for me, can be a little off in they're a bit tight in the bust and hip and a bit loose on the waist, but that's because I'm large up top and on the hips compared to waistband size. My jeans always decide to be hipsters rather than fit on the waist, that sort of thing. But no, it's where I tend to do most of my instore shopping when I go outside, though online I go to Simply Be, or Marisota.

The own brand bras are good quality, and they do have ranges from Freya, Triumph etc.etc. which is great.

Hope that's helpful!

Actually, if you're a 46B, that's what you want to order. UK bra sizes aren't any different until you get to DDD cup and larger.

And I'm totally nodding my head at pesky33's comment. You're definitely better off getting size 30.

And one word of warning about Evans' bras: styles like this are terrible for the wires poking out after a VERY short time (3 wearings for one of mine). Other than that, though, the quality is very good, so I just started reinforcing the ends of the wires in all of mine. A little bit of ribbon and some thread are worth it, when you consider the fact that they're actually pretty reasonably priced.

Also, these run insanely small. I ordered one in a 38F, and it was tight on my 32A-wearing 12 year old.

Overall, though, I'd say the quality is very good. Other than the bra issue, I've never been unhappy with anything I've ever gotten from there. I'd say it's about on par with Lane Bryant circa 2003 (the last time I was ever IN a LB and had any idea what the quality was like).

Delivery to the USA is an utter bargain - only £7.50!!! So that should work out to a little over $10. Though if the US customs is anything like the UK customs you might be stung for taxes/duty on the incoming.

I second that you're probably better off with a 30 as well. When you get to plus sizes I've found they're generally only 1 size out, so a UK 24 is a US 22 for example.

As for bras - check your measurements very carefully and I would follow their bra fitting guide. I have found them to be very stingy with their bra bands. I tend to be a 40 band, in Evans I have to get a 44. Though technically, if you follow all the bra fitting guides, that is what I should be as I have an underbust of 40" and you're supposed to add 4" to that for your band size, or something... I also find that on me personally their bras tend to be an odd shape and don't do much for me!

I purchased a pair of shoes from Evans on a whim. While they are gorgeous, the sizing chart was a bit off and they are too big. When I tried to return them, it was going to cost almost half what the shoes themselves cost! I decided to keep them and sell them here or at my local consignment shop. My suggestion would just be to make sure you absolutely love it and check and double check the size and if it doesn't fit, have an option for recouping some of your money elsewhere.
