I was browsing the news, when I came upon an article that disturbed me greatly. As I couldn't find it put in these terms anywhere else online, I translated it. Source, in Swedish.

Knowing a number of relatives and friends who have had surgery in the past....I'd say 10 or so years....Most of them, given what I know of them, still don't have an "acceptable" BMI. Maybe they did, for a couple years, but then...after that,...not so much.

I'm really conflicted on the issue of surgery personally. And so far, from what I've seen, I've not seen enough proof that it "cures obesity" (or really, any of the probelms them medical profession wants to think are solely due to fat). That leads me to think I won't do it for myself. That's my 2 cents.

Why might cancer screening be improved with weight loss? It couldn't have anything to do with patients not getting treated for anything but being fat no matter what the actual physical problem, could it?

Swedish study = conducted at bariatric centers and not among the broader population of fat people.

Also: "Come on, fatties, this operation isn't killing as many people as it used to?" Yes, that's wonderful news!
