It's been seven weeks since I suffered that nasty burn in my throat. Since then I have healed up fairly well. The swelling has gone down, the acid reflux is under control, and I can eat and drink regularly

It is unlikely that the damage is permanent - it takes years of that kind of problem to permanently damage your chords. Like any muscle - you want to keep your throat moist and warm; and don't sing without warming up first, and you'll soon be back up to snuff. Breath control shouldn't be effected at all. My french horn teacher used to have me lay on my back, put books on my abdomen and have me lift them by breathing right. Hope to hear you are soon wowing them again.
