All right, so going out Sunday night when she had class and work on Monday was not the smartest move Jaye could have made. But Kristine, one of the girls from Philosophy had just broken up with her boyfriend and decided Jaye was the one to tell her like it is and then after about eight refusals offered to pay for all Jaye's drinks and there she was.
And many many drinks later, Kristine was semi-drunkenly telling Jaye not to let her hook up with the hot guy at the bar (who wasn't really hot and wasn't even looking at their table). As a bonus, she was drunk enough not to notice she'd already said this at least three times, at which point Jaye, in all her wisdom, decided to do the only thing she could to escape.
She pulled her phone from her purse, opening it and frowning. No, it didn't ring. "Ooh, hold on, gotta take this," she said, getting her purse to get up from her seat. Wobbily-like.
"But I'm going to have to talk to the guy," Kristine insisted, pouting. "And then Dan will never take me back!"
Jaye took one look at her, one eye open wider than the other and slurring half her words, and assured her, "I don't think you're going to have any problems."
She took the phone outside, deciding she only had to stay out here for a minute before going back in and dragging Kristine out to find a cab. It's not like Kristine would know how long it was. But while she was out here and she had nothing better to do, she left a quick
voicemail before heading back inside.
Where she found Kristine talking to the even-less-hot guy next to the one she'd been staring at all night. Shaking her head, she went over to take her new drinking buddy by the arm. "Time to go, Blackout Girl. Let's get you home before I have to pretend to care you're puking."
