Portishead, yes! It's been a good year for trip-hop - Third by Portishead, Knowle West Boy by Tricky, and Massive Attack premiering new songs on tour and curating Meltdown. HAPPYSIGH.
OMG you did a year end list, this is awesome! I love reading year end lists so much, especially from the people I know because I feel like they are very revealing and I am so so nosy when it comes to knowing what other people are listening to.
I DID. And I could've kept going. But I would've broke all the uploading services for sure, lol. Yes though! They are awesome. And I just saw your challenge, lol.
I totally got into Cat Power because of you. I downloaded Dark End of the Street when you uploaded it, fell in love, and downloaded all of her other albums. I LOVE HER. Ughhhh. I think my favourite song of hers is the cover of Fortunate Son. And Sea of Love. A lot of her songs are covers, but she really owns them in a way most other artists can't.
\o/ That's what I like to hear! I'll have to do one, big massive Cat Power post. Because I love her and there's just so much b-side goodness and rarities. It'll be like Christmas come early.
WHAT, CHEATER, IN RAINBOWS IS 2007. Oh wait no you're right it came out in 08 too. But it was on my list last year so I can't do it againnnnn!!
This was really an interesting list! We only have one overlap. Eeeeenteresting. I just said interesting twice but I am too lazy to think of a second adjective.
I really like these lists for a very weird reason: I enjoy being reminded that nothing is bad. Like there is an album on your list that I think is baaaaaaad, as in I listened to it once aside from one track which I love. But man, for me to make the conclusion that the album is actually bad? So not on. I like being reminded of that, because I work really hard to not judge anything related to music. If you like something, you like something, you know? Lovely.
her voice literally curls underneath you This amused me because that is very similar to how I think of Lil Wayne.
HA. I ALMOST DIDN'T PUT IT AND THEN I WAS LIKE WELL, WHATEVER, IT'S 2008 AND I LIKE IT THERE. *laughs* I didn't put disc one up. Technically.
I think I'm getting pulled into all different directions, for sure.
Ha. That's the great thing. Everybody's taste unfolds in variations and it's always interesting to see what people think. Plus, the only real albums that I think are bad are from Yanni and that's because they remind me of the dentist. SO. You know, I agree. Plus, there's more that I wanted to put on. Maybe I'll do a part deux.
