Oh, man, this is fantastic. I really appreciate this. Which is a weird thing to say about a fanfic, but! That is the feeling that it gives me in my soul. I think that the show has been portraying Ryan as really frustratingly one-note this season, and there's so much they could be delving deeper into, and this was just such a great, spot-on exploration of him and where he is right now. I love that you don't smooth over the fact that he's become pretty much the smarmiest jerk ever, but the way you conveyed his discontentment in this hectic way that just gets under your skin to read -- so awesome. I've never been huge on Ryan/Pam, but she is just such the perfect foil for him here, too: it's like they've both been gone and now they're back, trying to grow as people, but Pam did it the right way, and Ryan did it the wrongest way imaginable. It might be trust, it might be the fact that eventually, eventually he’s going to have to stop being a dick and start being something else - look how well the city worked. Looove that ( ... )
