End of year meme

And another year that was meme, cause why not. End of year forty questions meme gakked from a_carnal_mink

1. What did you do in 2014 that you'd never done before?
Moved interstate. Completed a Batchelor Degree.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Never make new year’s resolutions.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Just a couple of work colleagues.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My mother’s Step mum died a couple of days ago, aged 93. I never met her, but she always sent us birthday and Christmas cards.

5. What countries did you visit?
Australia.

6. What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
A new job after the move interstate. More hobbies outside, which given the garden at our new house shouldn’t be too hard.

7. What dates from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Hmmm, apart from the date we moved to NSW? Not sure there is any.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Finishing my Bachelors in Spatial Science after six years of studying while working full time.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not having a job before we moved maybe?

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Had a twisted vertebrae in my lower back that took a couple months to sort out.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My Surface Pro 2 Tablet. Love it to bits. Great to write on and far easier to lug around than my old laptop.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
??? No idea, maybe my hubby for still putting up with me lol.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
As always there have been idiots in the news who depress and appal me at what humans are capable of, but none of them are worth the trouble to list.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Moving and having to live off what was left of our savings while we look for jobs.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Moving, finishing me degree, and finding a new OTP in Steve/Becky.

16. What song will always remind you of 2014?
None in particular.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? About the same, though more stressed
ii. thinner or fatter? Maybe a little fatter
iii. richer or poorer? Definitely poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing, definitely writing. I have done very little writing this year, and it’s more than a little depressing.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Stress, it has been a very stressful year. Not all of if necessary with my tendency to overthink things, and spending months agonising over our decision to move.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
At our new house with my parents and sister, and hubby’s parents. Surprisingly they all got on and my father in-law behaved himself.

21. What LJ users did you meet for the first time?
None.

22. Did you fall in love in 2014?
Just stayed in love with my beautiful hubby.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favourite TV programme?
Hard to pick this year, no one show stands out at the moment.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.

26. What was the best book you read?
Forging Zero/Zero Recall. I read them over the last couple of days and loved the characters.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
None

28. What did you want and get?
Surface Pro Tablet, to move away from our old home town.

29. What did you want and not get?
A new job after we moved.

30. What was your favourite film of this year?
I have to give it to a trio of Marvel movies this year, Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and Days of Future Past.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I chucked a sickie and stayed home with hubby. I was thirty-three.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?.
Having a job after we moved. Would have saved a lot of stress, and hubby and I would be enjoying our new house instead of worry about how to find money for house repayments and food in a month.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
Unchanged. Fashion’s not high on my priorities, never has been. I need new clothes, most of what I wear around the house is worn out t shirts and shorts.

34. What kept you sane?
TV? Good stress relief where I don’t have to think. Hubby, though he deals with stress worse than I do.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Not really any, characters I love, don’t really follow the actors.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I have been avoiding politics, it’s nothing but depressing and rage inducing.

37. Who did you miss?
More of a what, but…Writing. I have done little over the last year or so, and I miss it. Miss getting lost in the words. Just haven’t been able to let go of my worries enough to get into that space where I don’t think, just let some vague concept spark words and drift wherever they take me.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Hmm, one of our new neighbours I guess? Don’t think I met that many new people.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014.
Yet to see whether following our hearts over our heads will prove to be right with regards to our move. Depends whether we get work before we run out of money. Other than that I guess persistence pays off, and never under estimate what you are capable of in regards to finishing my degree.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
"don't try to find the answer
when there ain't no question here
brother let your heart be wounded
and give no mercy to your fear"

meme, warning: pointlessness ahead, what?...i'm so not procrastinating
