I almost cried at the hug! It has been a long, long time coming, and god it was perfect. I loved that whole scene, it was just... ugh it was everything I wanted, and everything I have missed so dearly about my ship <33
I'm fairly certain Cas is coming back, or at least that's the gist I was getting.
I admit, I'm on the fence with the new angel. I like him, but I also think he's along the vein of Uriel and Anna (after she was 'fixed') if only because he sees Cas having heart as being a failing, and thinks that Cas needs to be "fixed" too.
I am still well and truly intrigued for S8, it is setting up to be good so far, that's for sure. I've missed this show so much xD
I don't think there has been a Dean/Cas scene that made me jump around with excitement and emotion since way back in 6.20, which was about the only shining light from season 6. I forgot how much I loved these two together. It has just been that long since they had a scene that actually felt like them. Oh how I missed it.
Hmm I am assuming Cas will come back, just don't know how at the moment. With Alfie the angel showing up in this episode, it makes me wonder what we are going to see of the other angels in the rest of the season. They are obviously still around. I liked Alfie (or whatever his name actually was) just not sure what his motives are yet.
It's so nice to be enjoying the show again this season.
I haven't watched S7, so it was kinda like being thrown back to how they used to be in S4/5, but more developed... like the growth they should have gotten, and I like that a lot. I want more of them. I have missed them so incredibly dearly. I love loving my OTP again, and not being filled with rage because of how they treat Cas and how they have Dean acting; it's so nice for this to be Dean reciprocating, and needing Cas because he needs Cas and not just as a means to an end.
I'm horribly curious as to how they are going to get Cas back, I look forward to it, and his arc this season. I was under the impression all the angels got killed, but that's clearly not the case? I look forward to finding out more there too, but they are probably going to want him to come back to Heaven.
It's nice to enjoy the show, yeah, and even though I love Teen Wolf that tiny bit more at the moment still, SPN still has that place in my heart and I am hoping that Carver can make it the show I fell in love with so hard again :)
It was such a throwback to when these two were actually written well. Probably a good thing you missed season 7. Season 6 was poorly executed, but at least the idea was still mostly there if you could ignore what didn't work, but with season 7 just, yeah...no, never watching that again. After those two seasons I'm kinda in shock that its getting back to the feel they had when I fell in love with them. It has been so long since I looked forward to the next episode, and actually felt connected with what was happening. And yes, actual development with Dean, shocking
( ... )
I am assuming Cas does come back. As Dean himself said, he's not the same as he was. I'm guessing whatever happened in that last flashback at the end with Cas will be a big part of Dean's headspace at the moment. There is definitely some extra guilt he is carrying around, something that is haunting him, and it feels like more than just the year spent in purgatory.
Crowley has been great again with the plot working around him well. And we actually got to see him smoke out!
These two were my first slash pairing (actually before supernatural I didn't even know what slash was, innocent little fandom virgin that I was) so that reunion scene was fucking awesome on so many levels. The purgatory flashbacks have been full of gold and diamond dust. I loved the flashback sequence with the interrogation and how hardcore badass Dean was. It's a little scary.
Oh and on a completely shallow note, Dean whipping that tie off was stupidly hot.
I loved Crowley's quip about Buzz Aldrin, and the Angel offering up the Vatican City as a bid made me lol hard. Also loved Dean's comment about "Is that even a planet anymore". Not a perfect episode, but everything this season just has that feel about it, like it is going somewhere, and that has been missing for too long. This is the show I massively fell for three years ago when I mainlined four seasons in a about two weeks. This feels more like the Dean/Cas that ate my brain for two years.
I've dabbled with the pairing now and again, but I love unrequited sexual tension just as much between these two. And ohhhhh, 8.02 was SO SATISFYING. GUH.
I'll take these two any which way. I mostly wrote them as gen or pre-slash, and so many of my favourite fics were the same. The UST and eye sex was just frickin off the charts with them *drools a little* I always preferred the pre-slash stuff because of that tension between them (just like in the show) it's like candy, or crack. Damn well addictive. I could go platonic love all the way and be one happy little shipper. Hell I don't care if they don't talk, just give those meaningful stares where they forget anyone else is in the room
