I love Zafon, but like you it took me a longer time than I wanted to read it - mostly because I do enjoy the way he writes, but it forces you to slow down a lot more to catch everything. I enjoyed this book, but I still rather like Shadow better...I just love the feeling of characters and an author who love the written word. :)
