I've only read the first one, and my reaction to it was mostly lukewarm. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it. I thought Elphaba's story was very interesting, until she suddenly turned into Evil Witch for no apparent reason. But then I've always had high standards when it comes to fantasy, and I'm often disappointed by wildly popular books.

I'm completely with you on this. I was so disappointed with the first book that I didn't bother to read the rest. BOO. BOO, I SAY!

the only book by him I really liked was Confessions of an Ugly STepsister, and really do fall into the "I didn't like Wicked and don't see why everyone is in love with it" group
