Discussion Question: At what point do you give up on a book? (TSS)

So I am reading a book right now and I'm really not digging it.  The characters are shallow, the plot is slow, and it's salacious beyond my usual tolerance level.  I will probably toss it aside, because it is just not worth the effort of completion.

Are you the sort of person who always finishes a book you start?
If not, do you have a certain cut ( Read more... )

I used to finish Everything I read. The first time I failed to finish reading a book all the way through I actually felt guilty about it. I thought, "I love reading, anything and everything, can I really not get through this?" -- Now I don't even remember what the book was. Haha, apparently I have let the past go. I don't have a set amount of pages to read before I decide not to finish a book. I usually quit when I start feeling like I'm having to force myself to keep reading (as if I'm trying to read a textbook for school).

It depends on the length, but I usually give it 100 pages!
