Oh awesome, I was really hoping this was going to be good.

As for revised classics, I'm thinking Moby Dick vs. Cthulhu, or maybe Nikolai Gogol's Dead Souls vs. an army of invading aliens.

You are officially appointed to start working on Moby Dick v. Cthulhu. Like NOW. :D

Oh man, you wouldn't happen to know anyone willing to cover my rent for the next two or three years while I do the research to pull that off, would you?

Actually that does kind of sound like fun, but, jeez, talk about a monumental undertaking...

I wonder how long it took this guy to zombify Jane Austen.

It does seem a pity that rent will always get in the way of Captain Ahab's encounter with The Old Ones.

This sounds magnificent! And now I pine for vampires in A Tale of Two Cities. Though I think Wuthering Heights with either Heathcliff or Cathy written as a vampire would also be vastly entertaining. The whole Gothic schtick makes 'em a good fit too.

It's going slowly but surely! I'm about 4/5 of the way thru the first draft. Recently I printed out the 20 chapters to date and did a read through/streamline edit because it was getting slightly muddled in the last few chapters and I needed to make sure it still made sense of some kind before I continued. I'm talking to my publisher about possibly allowing the first chapter to be used in the con booklet for Continuum 5 (to be held in Melbourne in August). I'm one of the con guests, along with Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, so that should be fun. I'm very much hoping the draft will be done and maybe even with the publishers for the big job of editing by then.

We're still hoping for a US publisher to pick up The Opposite of Life. There's been some interest, apparently, but nothing concrete. Sigh. Still, the US reviews have been good.

Are you publishing anywhere else outside Australia? UK, Canada, Europe? I can't imagine what a royal pain it must be to get anything from outside the US published here, but there always seems to be a delay of several years so it can't be easy!

I was trying to think of a good candidate for mummy infestation! I seem stuck on the idea of using a novel set during Napoleon's empire (it just seemed like a great time for mummies) and of course, my mind is coming up blank. :-p

Oh wow, that sounds absolutely fantastic, I'm no vampire fan, but just the thought of having vampires placed alongside Austen characters had me falling off my chair in a fit of laughter.
Just the kind of book to drain away the stress, eh? ;D
