This sounds really interesting. There are some Menonnites that live near my community. ... Pointless fact: The fresh produce they grow and sell every year is amazingly delicious.

Mennonites (at least the ones here) also wear colors.. I think the Amish only wear neutrals, if I'm not mistaken.

Great Series! elizardbreath8 January 5 2009, 00:00:09 UTC
(My apologies if you get this post a few times...something funky is up and I keep having to retype my comment :(

Hey!

I just finished book 3 in this series. I have read quite a lot about the Amish culture, both fiction and non, and have found Woodsmall's books to be my very favorite! She does a really great job of balancing what I see to be a very distinct and defined culture with what obviously goes on in the "real world" that they are very much a part of.

On a different note, I'm so glad to have discovered your blog! Hope you're having a happy new year so far!

Hey I know you from BookCrossing! (I'm k00kaburra over there)
I didn't know you had a book blog!

I really liked Woodsmall's series (I'm super slow posting my reviews tho') and I'm curious to see what she does next. I remember in one of your Christian book boxes you had some of Beverly Lewis' books in it...doesn't she have an Amish series, too? Have you read it?

I saw Wanda Brunsetetter on Amazon and I was wondering how she was...sounds like I'll want to avoid her, tho'. :) I still need to read that "Mark of the Lion" series you sent me, but someday I may take you up on the offer to read Lewis's books!

Oops, forgot to log out of my other journal...oh well!

You're a fast reader. How many books do you read per month?

Also, I emailed eBay telling them that I suspected that the Coraline doll was a fraud. They ended up removing the doll and the seller from eBay. LOL!

Maybe they read Neil's blog.

I'm not sure how many books I read each month, between 5 - 10 depending on how big the books are. I just have a huge backlog at the moment of books I've read, but didn't yet write the reviews, so I was trying to work through that pile as much as possible during the winter break.

I'm glad they took the doll down! It was just a weird auction...
