The set up sounds a lot like that of Frankenstein, which sounds very intriguing. I think I've heard about this book before, maybe. It sounds interesting, so I'll have to check it out!

I actually quite liked Dracula (aside from the whole paragon of womanhood that is Mina Harker bits), and I've been dying to get hold of this one. If only I had spare time and cash...

I love a good Jack the Ripper story. (Anno Dracula by Kim Newman, for example was a pretty cool twist on both stories if quite gory.)

I read Anno Dracula two years ago, and apparently I didn't like it very much. Honestly, I barely remember anything about it now.

Hmmm, i did enjoy Dracula, but i don't know i i'd enjoy thi or not. I'd seen this book on book sites and sort of assumed it was about vampires, so i am glad i knownow that it is not. I would have been thrown off, lol.

Great review! I'm not sure whether I'll be picking this one up or not.

if i didn't have so many books on my waiting list already i would read this. i will probably read it eventually anyway.
i remember how exciting i thought dracula was and then it went on and on and on and i was a bit let down because i had really gotten into the very start of the novel. still, i might like this.

also: i am finally reading 'the gargoyle' after reading your review on it ages ago.
