Remember that 'Tales of Beedle the Bard' book that J.K. I would love to get the collector's edition but it might be a bit too expensive. I'm afraid that if I take too long to think about it the 100000 will all be preordered before I make up my mind... :S

That's totally my fear, too. I ended up pre-ordering the collector's edition. Since Amazon.com won't actually charge me 'til December, if I find I can't afford it I can cancel the order before them, but at least this way I'll definitely get one!

I kind of fizzled out on the HP stuff around book 5... come to think of it, that was about the same time as my kids. I've started Half-Blood Prince a couple of times, but just never had the umph for it. I saw somewhere she's releasing some new book about four stories of Hermione Granger.

I hadn't heard about the Hermione book - do you have a link to it? I really, really like the series but I think the quality did drop after Goblet of Fire. It's like the editors couldn't control her anymore, so a lot of unnecessary words and tangents that would have been eliminated in the first few books were able to stay because Rowling didn't want to get rid of them.

The collectors' edition looks so nice, but honestly I don't think I'll ever get the chance (and funds) to lay my hands on it:) So I'm adding the standard edition to my wish-list. I hope it won't be too long before it shows up on BookMooch.

I think this book may be somewhat similar to the two books by JKR, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' and 'Quidditch Through the Ages', which are supposed to be textbooks from Hogwarts library. I have the one about Quidditch, and it is a totally hilarious read (but you must be acquainted with the HP universe).

I haven't managed to get those two "extra" books. I always mean to, and then I forget :(.

Oh, they are delightful. I expect I'll like the Tales just as much. I tend to agree with you about the drop in quality, but her universe descriptor material has always been my favorite part about the series.
I was also the kid whose favorite character in any movie was the sidekick (Little Mermaid: Sebastian. Beauty and the Beast: Lumiere and Cogsworth. and so on.)
