News: Texas Creates Bookless Public Library

This bookless public library sounds perfectly dreadful to me.   100 e-readers doesn't sound like an adequate number of devices for a community of that size. (Bexar is in the top twenty most populous counties in the USA.)  Granted, the library will continue to have other, more traditional branches.  But I bet that this branch is going to get really ( Read more... )

My library has a "cybrary" branch that is basically like this, but smaller. I think there's a place for bookless libraries, but there should still be a bookish library available in the same city.

Also, I agree that 100 e-readers is not enough. My library has about 15, I think (and we're a lot smaller than SA), and there's always 50-100 holds on them.

I've had to pay for some water damage fees on library books in my day, I'd hate to see what these fines would look like.
