I've not started this novel yet but I think that Gregory has the difficult job in terms of not always being able to have a sympathetic narrator.
I do think the series is a worthwhile one though and pleased she's extended it beyond the original planned three.
I'm about 2/3 of the way through Lady of the Rivers. I do think PG does enjoy the women who have a touch of magic about them. Are you taking part in the chat on Goodreads with PG tomorrow? It might give you a chance to get more info on the background research and where fact/fiction figure in the novel.
I know talking to her in the past she is very clear she is writing fiction but does immerse herself in source and secondary material.
