It such a visual novel that I think it would make a stunning movie. I'm sure that there are a ton of directors who could do a great job with it, but when I was reading it I just immediately thought of Burton. It might just be the black-and-white striped tents reminding me of all the characters in his movie wearing black and white - Jack Skellington, Beetlejuice, the chick in Sleepy Hollow, Sweeney Todd, and so on.
