More disturbingly, Jacobs describes a coalition between some fundamentalist Christians and Jews to genetically manipulate a perfect red heifer into existence, so that the End Times prophecies can be fulfilled. Creepy stuff.

*blinks* that's... that's.. I've not heard of them before.

There's a little bit about it on the Wikipedia page for Red Heifer - scroll down to the Temple Institute / Christians headings. I haven't found anything with better detail yet, but I'm poking around.

Yeah, gotta love Wikipedia.

Most of the articles I can find - none of them from major news sources - tend to be from the late 90s.

The rancher, Clyde Lott, talks about his attempts to get a cattle industry going in Israel using Red Angus cows, back in 1997: http://www.jweekly.com/article/full/6115/holy-cow-will-red-heifer-save-world-cattle-industry/

2006 article that talks about how well that didn't work out, as well as several different 'End Times' scenarios currently circulating the Abrahamic faiths: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2003087927_theend27.html

Humanity's really on the road to redemption, don't you think? **eye roll**
