Historical Fiction Reading Challenge
One of the things that I meant to do this year - and positively failed at - was participate in the Historical Fiction Reading Challenge. I mean, I've been reading historical fiction books throughout the year, but I completely forgot to actively update and participate in the challenge.  Now 2012 is nearly over.  Well, let's see how many works of historical fiction I managed to read this year!

Historical Fiction Reading Challenge 2012:

  1. At the Mercy of the Queen by Anne Clinard Barnhill
  2. Delilah by India Edgehill
  3. The Curse of the Pharaohs by Elizabeth Peters**
  4. All Clear by Connie Willis**
  5. Dreams of Joy by Lisa See**
  6. Bloody Jack by L. A. Meyer
  7. The Winter Palace by Eva Stachniak
  8. The Little Book by Seldon Edwards
  9. The Piano Teacher by Janice Y. K. Lee
  10. Curse of the Blue Tattoo by L. A. Meyer**
  11. Sunrise of Avalon by Anna Elliott**
  12. The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
  13. All the Flowers in Shanghai by Duncan Jepson
  14. The Castle in the Forest by Norman Mailer
  15. The Mummy Case by Elizabeth Peters**

  17. Of Love and Evil by Anne Rice**
  18. Heaven's Net is Wide by Lian Hearn**
  19. Claude & Camille by Stephanie Cowell
  20. The Second Empress by Michelle Moran
  21. A Hundred Flowers by Gail Tsukiyama
  22. The Kingmaker's Daughter by Philippa Gregory**
  23. Madame Serpent by Jean Plaidy
  24. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
  25. The Girl in the Glass by Susan Meissner
  26. The Secret Life of Mary Bowser by Lois Leveen
  27. Leonardo's Swans by Karen Essex
  28. The Secret Book of Frida Kahlo by F. G. Haghenbeck
  29. Angel's Coffin by You Higuri
  30. The Rebellion of Jane Clarke by Sally Gunning
  31. A Dangerous Inheritance by Alison Weir
  32. Iago by David Snodin
  33. The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane
  34. The Golden Goblet by Eloise Jarvis McGraw
  35. The Maid by Kimberly Cutter
** A good chunk of these titles were continuations of book series that I began in previous years.  However, before I wrote this up I would have sworn that "nearly all" the historical books I read were a part of the various series I've started.  I was really surprised that, in reality, it was less than half of them!  I may have overestimated the total because many of the authors were not new to me.

Peeking into the archives...today in:
2011: Ingenue (Flappers #2) by Jillian Larkin
2010: Closing Down for End of Year Festivus
2009: Beautiful Creatures by Margaret Stohl and Kami Garcia
