Fashion Victims: The Catty Catalogue of Stylish Casualties From A to Z

by Michael Roberts

An alphabet book for the fashion-obsessed, Fashion Victims combines catty poetry and stylish cut-outs in a “tongue-in-chic” send-up of the fashion industry.

Here’s an excerpt from one of the poems, to give you a taste:

Your hips so large
Are like a barge
That skirt you shouldn’t try on.
You’ll never fit
It’s bound to split
Unless the zip’s cast iron.

It’s the illustrations that really make the book. It’s illustrated with carefully constructed paper collages. Each one looking like it was ripped straight from the pages of Vogue. (Or Vanity Fair, where Michael Roberts is the fashion and style director.) Here are a few of the collages found inside:

The book is pretty much what you expect it to be. It’s silly and snarky, but fun if you’re into fashion or celebrity pop culture.

4 out of 5 stars
