HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
I was getting ready for a murder mystery costume party last night, and my boyfriend snapped this picture.
If looks could kill...but alas, I was not the killer.
Anyway. So it's Halloween! Later today I'm going to dress up like a pirate and run around San Jose like the swashbuckler that I am, but it's still pretty freakin' early so I'm thinking about books. Specifically, scary books. Creepy books. Weird books. Books worthy of mention on Halloween.
What's the creepiest and/or scariest book you've ever read?Scary is hard. I really don't read a lot of frightening books. I did read
It by Stephen King, and parts of that were decently scary, but the end of It was so ridiculous and lame that it killed the rest of the book for me.
Now, I'm more likely to get the heebie jeebies reading about ghosts when I'm alone in my house. Then I just get freaked out irrationally, and stay that way until someone comes home.
What's the most 'Halloween' book you've ever read?
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. It's set in a graveyard, and has vampires, ghosts and other supernatural creatures, but they're friendly. If you said to Silas "Trick or treat!" he would probably give you some candy. Or some fast food. Or something. It's got the scary man Jack looming in the background, like that ever present threat of razorblades in your candy or poison in homemade cookies.
Plus, dude, it's just a freakin' awesome book. Go pull your copy off the shelf and read it today. If you don't have it, go buy it.
Now it's your turn to answer one or both of the questions. Have a safe and fun Halloween, everyone!
