I don't know. I like to think I'd be civil but sooner or later we'd likely get into a debate on how much his views of faction superiority don't get along with the lore at all...except in his mind of course. But that is that, as they say.
And LoL at Kippurbird's idea of the counter-cultures. Dark "good" and light "evil" is something that I've toyed with now and then and would still like to do maybe, but the thing is that cultures that are "pure light" or "pure dark" are hard to make believable. Everyone thinks that they're culture is the light one and the other guys are the dark one. :/

And yeah...as a regular at TVTropes-and therefore, someone familiar with some associated themes-I kind of jumped on the opportunity to take the idea to that conclusion.

When I was in Germany I read a couple of books by a German author who was more in love with setting than plot, and spent an awful lot of time lovingly detailing characters and stuff that largely had no impact on the plot at large... although on the other hand, the characters were the biggest idiots I've ever come across in a book and the plot was rather strained. (I was typing those commentaries on a German keyboard where the Z and Y are on opposite places from where I'm used to and I couldn't be arsed to correct it everytime I made the same mistake, hence the weird spelling ( ... )
