So I went to the boy's family reunion...and then, I found out that his awful half-sister was going to be attending.  So I almost backed out.

Well...it wasn't me she tried to pick a fight with; it was their other sister.  In public, in front of everyone.  Law enforcement was alerted.  I felt quite ashamed on the other sister's behalf, and told her
