So...for April Fools' Day, I told the boy that I was actually going to read Twilight all the way through (as opposed to shoving it aside in disgust a fairly short ways in) on the off chance that I was doing Stephenie Meyer a disservice.  Unfortunately, I couldn't even feign more than a half-hearted interest.

I'm not all that familiar with the comic; I've read the story arc involving Rorschach and the shrink, but that's about it.  I have heard that the film was actually only rather loosely based on the Watchmen "metaplot."

One thing that I've found is that most comic-book movies require at least a passing familiarity with the source material.

Oh, regardless of what else he may be, he's certainly an effective character.  (I'm culturally deprived and haven't seen Taxi Driver.)

You should see the ending in the comic. It was literally impossible to film, so they made it an explosion. It's supposed to be some sort mind eating octopus or something.

Like a Cthulu bomb.

Actually, that sounds pretty amazing.
