This was a great challenge everyone! Apologies for getting the results up so late, but there wasn't much voting for the tie breaker so I was waiting a bit to see if there would be more votes.
BEST #03 - the crop and crispness of the image are clean and appealing
LEAST #03 - It's not a bad icon (voting is getting harder and harder!) but there is nothing about it that really stands out either. I think it needs more light/contrast and maybe a more interesting crop. I feel like I've seen this icon many times before.
BEST #06 - the texture is a nice contrast to the coloring #06 - The texture use in this icon is really creative and unexpected. The sharpness is spot on and I like the play of light and shadows on her face.
LEAST #06 - while I love the crop, the texture used makes the icon to noisy. #06 - I am not fond of the shadow on her right cheek and the light on the left of the icon #06 - Good cap selection and crop, but I felt the icon could have used more contrast, and the texture on the left is a bit too grungy for my tastes - I think it would work better if there were more space between Chiana's face and the texture, but it doesn't work for me as negative space.
Your icon was my favorite this round and I will snurch with credit! :) (the last negative vote is bullshit imo, it even admits that it's based on taste and not technique o_O)
I guess I would like the feedback please for 7. unscreened is fine. (I was really expecting to be out this round, 'cause I know I suck at plain back and white lol)
I actually thought this was my best icon in the competition and it was the one I worked the hardest on - I guess I shouldn't be surprised since so many of my Farscape opinions and interests are minority ones LOL
Anyway, this was fun. Thank you for the experience!
BEST #02 - Really like the way the icon looks like an album cover. :) Excellent crop of Pilot. #02 - Love the image choice (Pilot is difficult, and I admire how you captured his expression without using a closeup) and the text placement is excellent. Also love what you've done with the lighting and the background. The icon shows a lot of skill.
LEAST #02 - Pilot gets a bit lost in the icon, it looks a little busy with the ripped texture, tiny text and text. I quite like all these elements, but together they're a bit too much?
