To make you feel more guilty, if everyone lived like me, we'd only need 3.4 planets. Now I'm going to take the quiz again and see how things would be if I were vegetarian, commuted by bicycle year-round, and didn't have a work-room in my apartment...

Oh, only 2.4 planets. I can use buses and bike a little more than I do, and drive a little less, but I can't cut the car out entirely -- and the amount of change I can make in that department doesn't show up on the increments of their scale. Being vegetarian instead of an infrequent meat-eater makes most of that planet's worth of diffrence.

Oddly, having more people in your household decreases your footprint, because your share of the living space is smaller... but many people add a member to their household by procreating, which I argue INCREASES your footprint.

IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 24 ACRES PER PERSON.

WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 4.5 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE ACRES PER PERSON.

IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 5.7 PLANETS.
