Oh, no! They're GONE! *weeps* She was one of my favorite authors on FFN and I've been looking every so often to see if she was ever going to finish up the WIPs she had going (the one about the plague and the re-write of Horn of Gondor, in particular).
I used to have some of her stuff saved to my hard drive but when my computer crashed over a month ago, they were all lost... and now ALL of them are gone. Her works under the pen name Eambar are gone too.
I tried to email her but the email I had for her came back with a "no such account" error message last spring. I haven't heard anything from her directly since before Christmas 2008.
Why do I have a feeling that she left FFN because of those jerks who keep claiming to be canon police and grammar police and attack writers in their reviews?
Weeps along with you! I, too, had been checking periodically for updates. I was at least glad to see that she hadn't removed anything. Kept telling myself I should save some of my favorites, but never got around to it :(
The last email I had from her was mid-November of 2008. I tried contacting her at Christmas, but got no response.
I know she was curious about the identity of some of her 'anonymous' reviewers. I hope she didn't find out anything hurtful in that area that finally drove her away.
At least the taking down of the stories indicates that Evendim is still alive. I have lost too many of my fanfic mentors in the last few years to injury, Alzheimer's and death. Knowing that she had been ill last year, I was terribly worried about Evendim's health.
Maybe, just maybe, one day she will speak up again, and share her talent with us. One can only hope.
Silent flounce? Lol, interesting term. Classier than YAGE-ing IMHO.We had exchanged PMs for quite some time and I didn't find her departure imminent. Even though she knew she shouldn't be, she was bothered by some reviewers. But one can't always help one's emotional makeup. The same sensitivity that makes a story touching can be difficult to deal with in life.
What you say is true. But she isn't the first author in this fandom that I have seen pull their work and disappear. Reasons have ranged from quantity and tone of reviews to nominations for fanfic awards. If they were writing professionally, they would face far harsher criticism from editors, reviewers, etc. She said many times that she wasn't going to allow herself to be rattled by fanbrats (another term I like!). If she was unable to do that and was truly unhappy, then it is surely for the best that she got away from it. That is assuming that she is indeed well and his simply removed her stories, which I hope is the case.

As much as I hate to lose her works, I would gladly trade them to know she is well.
