A Familiar Stranger - Prologue
A ray of sunlight entered the room, causing one of the occupants on the bed to forcefully open his eyes with a grunt. He was still sleepy and tired. Sore and ache… those are what he felt all over his body, especially in his lower region. And, also, a headache. Damn, what did he do last night? Why couldn’t he remember what happened?
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself to remember what he did. His name is Ninomiya Kazunari. People often called him Nino. Last night, after work, he decided to go for a drink. His life had been rough for the past few weeks. His cousin, Aiba Masaki, who is also his housemate, is going to get married soon. Aiba had been in a relationship with the love of his life, Sakurai Sho, for quite some time. However, Nino didn’t know much about Sho. They only met a few times when Sho picked Aiba up for a date or something and barely talked to each other. Sho was friendly but because he often came when Nino was playing games, Nino usually ignored him.
Anyway, because the wedding is going to happen soon, Nino’s mother had been pressuring him into getting married too. She would call Nino every day, pleading him to go to an omiai, which Nino stubbornly refused. Sometimes, he would just ignore the call. Or, pretended to be busy whenever his mother brought up the subject. Ah, it’s too exhausting! Just because Aiba is settling down, it doesn’t mean Nino wanted to do the same too. He wasn’t ready to get married yet. Why couldn’t his mother understand that?
And, the upcoming wedding also brought another problem for him. Aiba would be moving out of their shared apartment soon. So, Nino had to find a new housemate to cover for the rent. Or, a new place to stay. Both were equally troublesome. He wasn’t the easiest person to live with. It’s impossible to find another housemate as perfect as Aiba. And, he loved their current apartment. It was hard to part with it. So, what should he do?
Also, there is a new manager at work. The name is Matsumoto Jun. And, Nino despised him. The two of them went to the same high school and never see eye-to-eye. He hadn’t seen the man after graduating so why did they meet again now? To make it worse, Jun is now his superior. Nino would never forget the smug on Jun’s face when he found out that Nino would be working under him. That thick eyebrow must be thinking he was better than Nino because of his position. Excuse me, Nino could easily be in the same position too. But, he didn’t enjoy bossing people around. That’s why he never applied for a higher position.
A nearby sound alerted Nino that he wasn’t alone on the bed. He started to become aware of his surroundings, realizing that this place wasn’t his room and he didn’t wear anything under the blanket. And so did his companion. Oh my… this could only mean one thing and it was bad! How did this happen? How did he end up sleeping with a stranger?
No… don’t panic, he reminded himself. For now, let’s leave the place before the stranger woke up. It’s just a one-night stand, right? Perhaps, they would never meet again. So, let’s just continue his normal life.
But, he was wrong.
A/N: Have this idea for a while. But, only decided to write this now. Haha, any idea for the stranger who slept with Nino? That would be obvious, right? But, how would they meet again, ne?
