Cupid - Part 4.5

Nov 10, 2020 23:37

“Good morning, Sho-chan,” Ohno greeted his assistant cheerfully when Sho came to pick him up for work in the morning.

“You look happy,” Sho smiled amusedly. “I assume everything went well yesterday,”

Ohno didn’t say anything. He only smiled, thinking of what happened yesterday. He experienced a roller-coaster of emotions because of a guy he had just met. Little Cupid, he whispered the name. The Little Cupid that he met yesterday was so cute.

He had to admit, at first, he was against the plan to look for a girlfriend using a matchmaking agency. Well… it wasn’t necessary but it would be his birthday soon and of course, there would be a birthday party. His parents’ guest would always flirt with him during the party so he thought of bringing someone as a girlfriend. But, he didn’t know where to look for one. So, Sho suggested the matchmaking agency. Quoting Sho, perhaps he would find his soulmate there.

He did! But, not the one that was suggested for him. Instead, he fell in love with the matchmaker. His cute little Cupid. Ninomiya Kazunari, that was the name of his little Cupid. This was the first time he ever felt like this for someone. He paid no attention to what Nino was saying about the candidates for him to date. Nino was the only one he could see.

The way Nino smiled at him… the way Nino answered his questions… the way Nino told him that he hadn’t found the right person… All of that made Ohno think Nino was also interested in him and was flirting with him. That’s why he shamelessly declared his intention to date Nino. But…

Nino turned him down. Ohno was heartbroken when he heard that. He tried to be professional but Nino was the only thing in his mind. He could barely focus on work. It was wrong to be like that, but…

Thank goodness, he had Sho to depend on. Seeing him like that, Sho suggested he went home to rest. Thankfully, there wasn’t anything that required his immediate response. So, he agreed to take a day off and left everything under Sho's care.

Once he was home, he didn’t know what to do. He thought of painting but nothing came to his mind. Then, he decided to watch videos on youtube. But, after 30 minutes, he got bored. So, he lied down on the bed, putting his phone away, and decided to sleep.

He woke up when it’s almost 5:00 PM. Feeling hungry, he went to the kitchen and made a peanut butter sandwich. As he ate, he thought of what to do after this. It’s almost time for dinner and he hadn’t cooked for a while. Hmm… maybe it’s time to make curry and invite Sho to eat with him.

So, off he went to prepare the ingredients. However, ten minutes into cooking, Sho suddenly called him. He sighed but went to answer the call.

“Hello, Sho-chan…”

“Are you okay, Satoshi?” Sho asked, sounding worried. His friend is a mother hen. Ohno was thankful to have someone like Sho in his life but sometimes it’s suffocating. “Do you feel better?”

“Un!” Ohno answered. However, there’s no denying that he was still sad about Nino. He quickly shook his head. It’s not time to mope around. So, he invited Sho to eat dinner with him, trying his best to sound cheerful.

“You’re making curry?” Sho was delighted. “Okay, I will head there later,”

“It will take me three hours to finish. So, come around 8:30 PM, okay?”

“So, I cannot bother you right now?” Asked Sho. “There’s a phone call…”

“Is this about work? Ohno grumbled. He was in a mood to cook so he didn’t want to know anything else. “Is it important?”

“No… it’s not about work… but…”

“If it’s not about work, we can talk about it later,” Ohno decided, not letting Sho change his mind.

“Okay,” Sho said resignedly. “But, there’s an important call you have to make today. Since you will be busy cooking, can I schedule it at 9:30 PM?”

“Yes, sure, whatever,” Ohno said grumpily before he ended the call. He had no idea what Sho was talking about. This was not the time to be thinking about that. He would know about it when Sho came to eat later.

So, he fully concentrated on cooking, not caring about anything else. Not even time. He enjoyed cutting and stirring the ingredients without no one bothering him. He continued working in silence until it was done. Then, he set it up on the table, waiting for Sho to arrive.

What would the taste be? Ohno had no idea because he never tasted anything that he cooked. He enjoyed the process and that's why he never ate them. Seeing the content face of Sho or his family members was enough to make him feel happy. If only he could cook curry for…

Ohno sighed. Once again, he thought of Nino. Seemed like it would take some time for him to forget his Little Cupid. And, right on cue, he heard someone unlocked the door, and soon enough, Sho appeared with a box of pastry.

"I brought a pie," said Sho. Then, he headed to the kitchen. Ohno heard noises from the kitchen but he ignored them. The two of them had known each other for a long time so Sho never acted like a guest whenever he came to visit.

“Wah!” Sho exclaimed, putting the pie that he brought on the table. “It looks delicious,”

Shamelessly, his assistant settled down on the table and started gobbling the food. Watching him, Ohno only shook his head. People would be surprised if they saw his assistant like this. Sho was not polite and proper when it came to eating. That’s why he usually avoided eating in public.

Ohno took a slice of pie. Hmm, delicious. Where did Sho buy this pie? He never tasted it before.

“It’s from Matsumoto-san to congratulate you,” Sho told him.

Ohno tilted his head, not quite getting what Sho meant by that. Which Matsumoto was this? What did he do to deserve this pie? Ohno couldn't think of any.

"Congratulate me for what?"

"Because Ninomiya-san agrees to go on a date with you,"

Ohno grimaced. What did Sho say? Pretty sure he heard something about going on a date. And Sho also mentioned his Little Cupid's name. But… that can't be right…

"Aren't you happy?"

"Huh?" Ohno shrugged. "What did you tell me? Something about Little Cupid and dating, right? Please, Sho-chan! Don't give me hope,"

It was frustrating. All these times, he thought he was weird for not feeling anything for anyone. But, now that he finally met someone that he liked, it was unrequited. And wasn’t it cruel for Sho to joke about it?

"Satoshi…" Sho said softly. "This is not a joke. I'm telling you the truth. Thanks to Matsumoto-san, Ninomiya-san agrees to go on a date with you,"

"Really?" Ohno asked. It was hard to believe. Why would Nino change his mind? Why would Matsumoto help him? They barely knew each other. "Why did Matsumoto-san help me?"

"He's not helping you," Sho explained. "He's doing it for his friend. He thinks that Ninomiya-san might feel the same way but he was just confused because it's too sudden. So, he talks with Ninomiya-san and… as I said, your cupid agrees. I already texted you his number. And, I've told him you will call him at 9:30 tonight,"

"WHAT?" Ohno's voice went an octave higher, too surprised by the sudden news. He didn’t check his phone since he woke up so he didn’t know that Sho had texted him. When he glanced at the clock and noticed it was almost 9 PM, he started to panic. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”

“You dismiss me, remember?”

“Huh… Oh!” Ohno was confused at first. Then, he remembered that Sho told him about an important phone call to make. “Oh my… what should I tell him?”

“Well, I already informed Ninomiya-san that you have to sleep by 10 PM. So, talk about the date with him… what you want to do, when and where…”

Ohno only nodded his head, appearing to be calm. Would it be okay? He hoped so.

Sho left soon after that, reminding him again to sleep on time but make sure to confirm all the details for the date. When it was almost time to call his Little Cupid, his anxiety returned. Too many things were on his mind.

And it suddenly crossed his mind. What if Nino agreed to go on a date with him because Sho threatened him? He didn’t want to think of Sho that way but it’s possible his friend might resort to something like that. Ah! Please, don’t let something like that happened.

Right on time, Ohno called Nino at 9:30 PM. It took some time for the call to be answered. For a second, he was worried that Nino didn’t want to pick up. However, when the call was connected, he sighed in relief to hear Nino’s voice greeted him.

The first thing he did was to confirm whether Sho had threatened Nino. His Little Cupid denied it and he was relieved to hear that. The conversation went smoothly with Nino teased him a few times. However, it was too short because of his bedtime. Damn!

“Stop grinning like an idiot,” Sho’s voice bringing him back to current situation he was in. He was in the car, on the way to work. His date with Nino would be in two days. Ah, he wished time would move faster. He cannot wait to see his Little Cupid.

And everything seemed to be going well. A day before the date, Ohno met Nino in a bookstore and the two of them had dinner together. They talked and be more comfortable with each other. Nino even invited him for breakfast together, which he happily agreed.

However, when he arrived at Nino’s house on that day, another guy was already there. Ohno didn’t know who the guy was. However, when he saw the way Nino looked at the stranger, he started to lose confidence. The guy seemed to be far more attractive than him and maybe, he was someone special for Nino.

Should he cancel the date? That was his first thought. Nino hadn’t noticed him yet so he wouldn’t know…

As soon as he thought of leaving, Nino’s eyes met his. When he saw Nino looking at him, he automatically smiled and walked towards his Little Cupid. When he was about to reach them, Nino hurried towards him and did something unexpected.

Nino kissed him. On the lips.

A/N: Why do I call this Part 4.5? Well, I want to make this story from Nino's POV. But, some things might be better from Ohno's POV. And since nothing much happened in this part, I will just think of it as an extra for the previous parts. That's why I named it as Part 4.5. Hope it wasn't weird.
Hopefully, I can finish and post Part 5 soon. As this is an extra part, no poll for this. And, I think you can already guess what's going to happen for Part 5.
And before I forget, Happy 1st wedding anniversary, Ninomiya Kazunari. Even if you're a married person, I will still support you. I'm happy you finally found someone to share your life with. I will pray for your happiness.
As always, let me know what you think of this, ne? All your comments and thoughts are very much appreciated and I hope u enjoy reading this story :)
