Magika - Chapter 33 (FINAL)
Nino sighed when the door of his room opened but it wasn't the person he was hoping to see who entered the room. Instead, it was Aiba. He was happy to see Aiba but Aiba, Jun and Sho were already by his side when he woke up earlier. He wanted to see someone else. Apparently, he had been unconscious for two days because of his injury. He had woken up a few hours ago but Ohno hadn't visited him yet.
"Where is Ohchan?" He asked Aiba. Aiba looked uneasy and he knew he was going to get the same answer as before. Ohno is busy. He will see Nino later. Bullshit. He knew Ohno was avoiding him. He must have blamed himself for what happened to him.
"What happened to Nakai?" He asked Aiba, remembering that Aiba hadn't told him what happened to him. He was also angry with himself for forgetting about Nakai.
"Well... Your father defeated him," Aiba answered. Nino stared at him, waiting for his friend to elaborate but Aiba didn't say anything. So, he had to ask him.
"How? How did Sho undo the spell on them?" He asked his friend, remembering how the adults looked like when he saw them in the room. They were in a daze.
"They weren't in a daze. They were just pretending to be like that to fool him," Nino was shocked to hear that. They looked real when he saw them that day. "Well, Kimura sensei did try to put them in the illusion but just like Nakai, he was too arrogant, thinking he was far more superior than them. So, it was easy to fool them. Instead of them being under Kimura sensei's illusion, it was Nakai who was under the illusion that they were in a daze because of the illusion,"
"Ughhh, you make me confused with what you said," he told Aiba. Aiba rolled his eyes at him, perfectly aware that he was bluffing. Of course he understood what Aiba was saying. He just wanted to tease the guy a little bit.
Aiba then continued the story with how Nakai was shocked to see the adults attacked him when he was about to torture Aiba, Sho and Jun. It wasn't easy to defeat him. But, well, at the end, he lost because he was outnumbered. The adults were surprised to know who he really was. Realizing that they still have Kimura sensei to handle, Nino-papa decided to fool Kimura sensei by pretending to be Nakai to help Nino and Ohno. But, he was late. Kimura sensei has been killed by the time he reached the room.
"So, it's over now?" He asked hopefully. Aiba nodded his head excitedly. Aiba told him that the school will be closed for a week.
"What are they going to tell the students about Kimura sensei?" He asked again. It must be weird coming to the school without Kimura sensei as his teacher.
"They are going to say he has resigned. They want us to stay quiet..."
There was a commotion outside of the room. He was interested to know what it was about but before he could react, the door was opened, revealing Ohno, Jun and Sho at the other side.
"If you want to listen to their conversation, it's better for you to come inside. Don't eavesdropping," Jun said. "How are you, brat?"
Nino ignored him. His attention was on Ohno who was trying to avoid his gaze. He could see how guilty Ohno was. He tried to stand up, hoping to get close to Ohno but Aiba stopped him. Then, Jun pulled Ohno and put him to sit on his bed. Ohno didn't try to resist so Nino hoped it was a good sign.
"Okay, you two lovebirds sit and talk. Ohno kun, don't try to run away. We'll be outside to make sure of that," said Sho before pulling Aiba with him. Nino noticed how Aiba's face turned slightly red because of the contact and he wondered if something happened between them. Well, he will ask him later. Right now, he had to focus on the guy in front of him.
"See you later," Jun said before he closed the door, leaving them alone in the room.
"I'm sorry," Ohno said. Once again, refusing to look at him. Nino sighed before he held the face to make sure he looked at him properly.
"I've told you. It wasn't your fault," he told Ohno. But, he could see that Ohno was still blaming himself.
"I hurt you, Nino. I should know better that it was just his trick,"
"Hey, stop it. He is a powerful wizard so of course everyone will be tricked. The most important thing is you defeated him at the end..."
"And almost kill you," Ohno looked gloomy.
"But, I didn't died. You save me, Ohchan. Stop thinking of the negative thing,"
"Nino... This wasn't the first time I tried to kill you. Don't you remember, I almost killed you when we were kids. Aren't you afraid of me?"
Nino shook his head. Yes, he was afraid of what Ohno did to him earlier. But, he knew that it was because of the illusion and Ohno cares about him. If Ohno lost control again, he will bring him back, just like before.
"Your magic is a part of you. You cannot get rid of that and don't even think of it. I will make sure things like that will never happen again,"
Ohno stayed quiet for a while. He knew it wasn't easy to convince Ohno that he wasn't a bad person. It will take time and he will make sure to keep reminding Ohno of that. He couldn't hide his delight when Ohno slowly reached out to hold his hand and then intertwined them with his hand.
“I was here, you know,” Ohno told him. Nino looked at him confusedly. He didn’t understand what Ohno meant.
“I was under the bed. I’m not ready to face you yet,” Ohno continued. Slowly, Nino realized what he meant. He was here when Nino woke up. He wondered why he didn’t notice him getting out of the room. He was probably too exhausted. “I want to enter the room with Aiba earlier but I was too afraid of your reaction. So, I gave up,”
“Idiot,” he told his boyfriend, hitting him with his pillow. Ohno only grinned at him but he knew there was something else that bothered him.
"Are you sure you still want to be with me? Even though I am a murderer and..." Ohno asked him and he nodded his head.
"But, I do enjoy torturing you. I thought it was him. I don't ever regret killing him. I'm just like him. We don't feel remorse for the life we took," Ohno continued.
"Right now... You're torturing me with your insecurity. How many times do you want me to repeat the same thing?" He joked a little, hoping to ease the tension between them. Ohno smiled weakly at him and he squeezed the boy's hand. "I'm not trying to justify what you did to the teacher. But, you're not the same as him. Even though you might think you don't regret killing him, I'm sure there is a little regret for that. Plus, nobody is perfect. I made mistakes too. Sometimes, I hurt people with my words. The effect could be more fatal than what you did to me. So, I beg you for one last time, let's move on from this topic. I'm bored talking about this. There are more important things for us to do,"
Nino winked at his boyfriend, hoping he would understand what he meant. Ohno looked clueless at first but when he realized what he meant, he blushed. Nino couldn't help but chuckled when he saw the blush and he leaned closer, ready to kiss Ohno...
But... Something caught his attention. The door was left ajar. And he could see someone spying on them.
"What are you guys doing?" He shouted to the people outside of the room. He could hear a chuckle before the door was pushed open. Jun came inside followed by Aiba and Sho. While both Aiba and Sho seemed embarrassed to be caught, Jun simply grinned at him.
"Just want to make sure everything is okay between the two of you," answered Sho.
"Is everything okay in here?" Another voice interrupted. It was his father. He could feel Ohno tense and it made him wonder why he was like that. His father noticed their intertwined hands and smiled softly at them.
"I'm sorry, Ninomiya san," Ohno blurted. There was something weird between both his father and Ohno. His father was staring at Ohno with guilt.
"I'm the one who should apologize. I'm being immature before. I shouldn't blame you for what happened to Kazunari. If I was in your place, I might do the same thing. And before I forget, I would like to thank you for saving Kazunari," said his father. He noticed Ohno was surprised, as if he didn't expect that kind of response from his father. "Well, you can stay with Kazunari but don't make too much noise, okay,"
He closed the door and then left. Nino looked at Ohno, silently asking him for what happened between him and his father. The reply came to his head, telling him that his father didn't do anything but he was a little hostile towards Ohno. But, Ohno didn't mind that because he knew it was his fault. He was glad that everything was well between them now.
He scooted a little on his bed so that Ohno could lie next to him. When Ohno lied comfortably against him, he put his head on his chest, listening to the boy's heartbeat. He closed his eyes as Ohno wrapped his arms around his waist.
"Shall we go and leave the lovebirds?" Said Jun. "I'm sure the two of you also want to be alone,"
He heard the three of them leaving as quietly as possible. Hearing what Jun said, he was convinced that either Aiba or Sho had confessed and they are now officially dating. He was glad for that and looked forward to tease them in the future.
He cast a look at Ohno. He was sure that the boy didn't sleep properly for the past few days so he didn't disturb him. Considering that he had been sleeping for two days, he wasn't in the mood to sleep. So, he simply watched Ohno while wondering what kind of adventure they will face next.
A/N: A lame ending, I guess. Tbh, I don't really know how to write the ending. I could only hope it was okay. It took years for me to finish the fic and I'm glad that I could finish it, unlike the previous version. There is something that I've been wondering. Do you prefer this version or the unfinished version?
